Subject Description

    This subject will equip healthcare professionals with the essential knowledge and skills required to communicate effectively across a diverse range of mediums. Through this subject, students will explore traditional and digital communication channels, build awareness of digital literacy, develop strategies to manage challenging conversations and enhance their ability to construct persuasive arguments. Students will be equipped to engage in clear, reflective, and impactful communication in healthcare settings, fostering improved patient care, and interprofessional collaboration.

Learning Outcomes

  • Apply persuasive communication strategies to influence decisions, policies, and outcomes in healthcare settings, while respecting diverse perspectives
  • Analyse challenging communication scenarios to develop appropriate strategies to promote a safe and respectful communication practice in the healthcare environment
  • Apply cultural competence and sensitivity to communication practices to cultivate a professional practice that acknowledges the diverse backgrounds and beliefs of patients and colleagues
  • Evaluate digital and technology-based communication as tools for efficient and secure communication, ensuring accurate documentation and timely information sharing
