MO1018 - Care for High Risk Feet

Prerequisites:Participants are responsible for ensuring they are practicing in accordance with the regulatory instruments of their specific allied health profession, within their own personal scope of practice and experience level and in accordance with the policies of their employer. This module requires access to a patient or consumer with a high-risk foot with established ulceration and at least one wound on the plantar surface of the foot, so as to demonstrate achievement of module outcomes in the appropriate clinical context.

This module has been developed specifically for allied health professionals in the following professions; Podiatry.

Subject Description

    This module focuses on application of participants' clinical knowledge and skills in podiatry to rural and remote service settings. Participants examine prevention, self-management, assessment and interventions for individual consumers with complex foot health issues including wound management. Participants also examine clinical service delivery and management systems in rural settings and strategies to address community service needs.

Learning Outcomes

  • combine advanced knowledge of complex high-risk feet conditions, assessment and clinical reasoning skills, to formulate and communicate intervention plans, that include self-management strategies, designed to optimise care in the rural and/or remote setting in accordance with best practice guidelines and local service strategic intent
