Subject Description

    Students are required to attend and participate where necessary in a series of workshops and seminars that will assist students to acquire necessary skills to engage in advanced research. Such workshops include, but are not limited to: (1) professional writing and editing; (2) Plagiarism & SafeAssign; (3) Academic and thesis writing; (4) Effective Candidature Management; (4) Research Methods; (5) Managing the Advisory Panel; (6) Critical Thinking; (7) Writing for journals; (8) Information storage and management; (9) communication skills.

Learning Outcomes

  • demonstrate and apply the advanced writing, reading and research skills and methods required to complete an Honours thesis
  • demonstrate and apply skills to critically evaluate sources of information in a range of academic texts
  • demonstrate an understanding of the necessary skills to successfully manage essential components of the process of Honours

Subject Assessment

  • Students are required to attend/complete 6 x research modules offered by the Graduate Research School. Upon completion students are to select 4 out of the 6 modules and write a reflection report. Each reflection report is worth 25%
