Subject Description

    To provide a practical and theoretical understanding of the law of evidence to prepare students for what will be required in practice. The course will give a background to the development of the common law and will also look at the relevant Queensland and Commonwealth legislation.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain and critique the importance of evidence in legal practice
  • Research legal issues and analyse using primary and secondary sources
  • Apply primary and secondary sources in a range of practical scenarios
  • Communicate effectively in writing

Subject Assessment

  • Written > Examination (centrally administered) - (50%) - Individual
  • Written > Test/Quiz 1 - (20%) - Individual
  • Written > Case notes - (30%) - Individual
