Subject Description

This subject analyses major developments in world history from the late nineteenth century through to the present day. It engages with the wars of the twentieth century by explaining how economic growth, social developments and ideological formations shaped our world and created political and social tensions that are still with us. We look at how modern cities and trade dynamics developed around 1900, how political cartoons and mass media connected people across the world and how political institutions and industrialisation shifted global dynamics and inspired processes of globalisation, decolonisation, radicalisation and ideological bifurcation.
