ED4622 - Learning and Teaching in Rural and Remote Contexts

Subject Description

This subject integrates and extends prior professional learning across the degree to challenge metro-centric understandings of education. The subject prioritises a focus on the affordances and complexity of living and transitioning to the profession in rural and remote communities, including First Nations communities. Preservice teachers will examine policies, research and data to engage with contemporary issues for rural and remote education and develop capacities to partner with communities to enrich reciprocal engagement and professional practice.

Learning Outcomes

• 3. critically reflect on constructs of rural and remote communities and professional engagement
• 1. examine policies and practices that impact teaching and learning in rural and remote contexts
