Subject Description

    This subject provides a comprehensive overview of the various branches of computing security, with a special emphasis on Network and Cryptography concepts. Students will learn about the main definitions, approaches, challenges and tools that are critical in solving problems in the cybersecurity domain.

Learning Outcomes

  • define cybersecurity and the responsibilities of cybersecurity professionals
  • use the CIA and AAA models to explain cybersecurity activities
  • describe symmetric and asymmetric cryptography systems
  • explain how cryptography, steganography and security protocols are used to establish authentication and confidentiality
  • demonstrate knowledge of network, computer forensics and system administration fundamentals

  • Performance/Practice/Product > Practical assessment/practical skills demonstration - (30%) - Individual
