Subject Description

    Businesses are operating in dynamic, complex and uncertain times which increasingly makes the management of change a critical role for organisational leaders. The challenges of globalisation, new and evolving technologies, industry restructuring, changing societal expectations about the role of business in environmental and social issues, and increased public scrutiny on today's businesses, require knowledge and skills relating to change management throughout the organisation. This subject explores concepts and models relating to the nature of change, identifying and making a case for change, and examining how culture and change leaders influence organisational change. These will be examined as providing HR solutions to lead organisations through transition and change, organisational transformation and uncertainty as organisations strive for optimal organisational cultures, and sustainable change to achieve greater effectiveness and success.

Learning Outcomes

  • critically analyse and evaluate the management of organisational change
  • design and develop approaches to manage the process of change for optimal and sustainable organisational culture
  • explain the nature of organisational change and effective change processes
  • identify business problems, and develop HR solutions for a business case for change
