Subject Description

    Honours projects are individual, supervised analyses of topics relevant to specific areas of business. The thesis will normally be completed and submitted by mid-October and will be of the order of 12,000-15,000 words. BU4070 provides the groundwork on the thesis topic for the larger thesis subject BU4071. It consists of preparing a research proposal with the aid of a supervisor on a contemporary topic from within the disciplines of the School of Business.

Learning Outcomes

  • provide a focus for students so that they can integrate material from other subjects in one specific setting
  • provide students with the opportunity to develop a substantial piece of work on a topic of special interest to them
  • develop objective research skills to dissect, analyse and appraise one facet pertaining to the School of Business without bias or favour
  • deepen students understanding of one particular facet pertaining to the School of Business by a concentration on one setting with more sustained attention than is required in essays, practicals etc

Subject Assessment

As this subject is part of a subject chain, a final standard grade (e.g. P, C) will only be recorded for each subject after successful completion of all parts of the subject chain.
