Subject Description

    A core challenge for all tourism enterprises in the government, commercial, and non-government sectors is to maximise the positive contributions of tourism to destination communities in an increasingly dynamic global tourism sector. This subject focuses on the roles and responsibilities of destination management organisations within communities. In particular, this subject builds on and considers fundamental and advanced topics in destination marketing, policy and planning.

Learning Outcomes

  • critically analyse and evaluate approaches to destination management
  • assess and consider tourism's contribution to destination community well-being
  • develop a destination management plan

Subject Assessment

  • Oral > Presentation 1 - (25%) - Individual
  • Written > Case report 1 - (35%) - Individual
  • Written > Client report 1 - (40%) - Group
