Subject Description

    This subject will provide the physiological basis, practical skills and scientific knowledge necessary to evaluate metabolic responses, sport performance, physical fitness and health outcomes in laboratory and field settings when undertaking exercise and sports testing

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain and apply the principles for physiological testing procedures that are relevant for sport, fitness and health for a variety of populations
  • Construct and administer physiological testing sessions in a laboratory and/or field setting
  • Interpret scientific results of health, exercise and sport testing assessments

Subject Assessment

  • Written > Examination (centrally administered) - (40%) - Individual
  • Written > Case study analysis - (10%) - Individual
  • Performance/Practice/Product > Practical assessment/practical skills demonstration - (50%) - Individual

Special Assessment Requirements

Passing requirements: complete and submit all assessment items; achieve a cumulative score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties such as late penalties; pass ALL skill competencies within the practical exams.
