PY5408 - Organisational Justice, Motivation, and Emotion

Subject Description

Many of us don't consider the close connections between justice, motivation and emotions until we are unfortunate enough to experience the full force of injustice. This subject articulates the complex nature of justice and its reach into many other areas of organisational life. This subject will explore how justice is experienced in the workplace: as outcomes and rewards (distributive justice), consistent procedures (procedural justice) or communication between people at different power levels (interactional justice). This subject will also focus on the relationship between organisational justice, employee motivation, and workplace deviance; and the powerful influence of positive emotions in favourable organisational outcomes.

Learning Outcomes

• Integrate, analyse and apply an advanced knowledge of organisational justice and associated processes to support fair and equitable outcomes in the workplace
• Design and evaluate organisational models that motivate employers and employees to promote equity, procedural fairness, corporate social responsibility, and job satisfaction
• Formulate, justify and convey strategies that address workplace deviance issues through advanced written communication to a variety of audiences

• Performance/Practice/Product > Multimedia production - (25%) - Individual
• Written > Critical Analysis - (45%) - Individual

Special Assessment Requirements

Achieve a cumulative score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties, and attempt and submit all assessments.
