Subject Description
- Contemporary leadership theory and practice emphasises the need for leaders to be creative problem solvers and to facilitate innovation by members of their team. This is in no small part due to the well-established linkage between innovation and performance across a variety of domains. These needs are becoming more acute, as an increasingly volatile and unpredictable world requires applied psychological practitioners to generate creative and innovative solutions to the problems facing their clients, organisations and society at large. Viewing leadership, creativity, and innovation through the lens of psychological science, this subject provides an introduction to philosophy and practice of creative leadership while highlighting similarities and differences with other theories and approaches to leadership. The subject will also enable students to identify and describe the factors that promote and hinder creativity and innovation, and to incorporate these factors into initiatives that seek to enhance creativity and innovation in their current or future professional settings.
Learning Outcomes

Subject Assessment
- Oral > Presentation 1 - (30%) - Individual
- Written > Proposal - (30%) - Individual
- Written > Reflection/reflective task 1 - (40%) - Individual
