Subject Description

    This subject is designed to develop skills in psychometric assessment across the lifespan. Students will use assessment techniques to inform interpretation in the synthesis of culturally appropriate assessment methodologies. Students will be guided through the assessment process, including hypothesis development and selection of appropriate psychometric and other assessment tools. Students will learn to gather, interpret and integrate data from multiple sources to address referral questions and make recommendations for the management of presenting problems. Ethical practice and professional communication as part of an interprofessional health care team will be a strong focus of this subject.

Learning Outcomes

  • Integrate, synthesize and apply psychological knowledge, information and the principles of interprofessional practice to plan and perform ethical and culturally appropriate evidence-based psychometric assessment
  • Apply advanced culturally appropriate communication skills in data gathering, interviewing and administering tests
  • Apply advanced psychological knowledge in the interpretation of assessment data to prepare reports and provide appropriate evidence-based recommendations which promote an interdisciplinary approach, to facilitate quality outcomes for clients from diverse populations
  • Reflect critically and respectfully on the practice of one's self and others within the interprofessional health care team to develop quality practice and to plan ongoing professional learning

Special Assessment Requirements

Pass requirements: pass every assessment item; attend all scheduled classes; achieve a cumulative score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties such as late penalties.
