Subject Description

    This subject develops knowledge of the foundational principles used by Diabetes Educators and senior clinicians in everyday clinical diabetes practice.

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe diabetes as a disease across the lifespan and different populations
  • Apply models of care to accepted diabetes pathways based on person-centred goals
  • Integrate knowledge of pathophysiology and aetiology to the management of diabetes
  • Apply relevant principles of governance, Quality Improvement cycle and contemporary evidence to achieve quality outcomes within the scope of the diabetes educator within a multidisciplinary team

Subject Assessment

  • Written > Test/Quiz 1 - (30%) - Individual
  • Oral > Presentation 1 - (30%) - Individual
  • Written > Essay (including multi-draft) 1 - (40%) - Individual
