Subject Description

    In this subject, students will explore contemporary theories of practice development to facilitate person-centred, safe and effective workplace cultures in healthcare contexts. Students will authenticate their own role as practice developers by identifying the gaps, barriers, and enablers in designing a healthful workplace culture. Embracing the principles of practice development, students will plan sustainable workplace change through the creation of a practice development plan.

Learning Outcomes

  • Interpret the principles, key concepts and methods applied in practice development that facilitate person-centred, safe and effective workplace cultures in healthcare contexts
  • Critically reflect on person-centred practice and workplace culture in own healthcare context to identify gaps that inform a practice development project
  • Evaluate the barriers and enablers of sustainable change in healthcare settings that influence practice development action planning
  • Develop a project plan that embodies the key principles and methods of practice development to create person-centred cultures in healthcare settings
