Subject Description

    This subject is designed to build on the knowledge and skills gained in NS5346 (Advanced Health Assessment) with the aim of identifying deviations from normal health states. Students will further develop clinical reasoning skills relevant to advanced health assessment and apply knowledge of pathophysiology to conduct comprehensive and systematic health assessments.

Learning Outcomes

  • Conduct advanced, culturally competent and comprehensive health assessment to differentiate between normal and abnormal findings in clinical assessment
  • Integrate knowledge of clinical symptomatology, health assessment findings, pathophysiology, and diagnostics to prioritise clinical care and appropriate referral to the broader multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Critically reflect on clinical skills and competencies for advanced practice
  • Interpret clinical findings and prioritise patient management strategies

Subject Assessment

  • Written > Test/Quiz 1 - (10%) - Individual
  • Oral presentation 30%; reflective task 20% - (50%) - Individual
  • Performance/Practice/Product > Mini-clinical evaluation exercise (mini-CEX) - (40%) - Individual

Special Assessment Requirements

Passing requirements: complete and submit all assessment items; achieve a cumulative score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties such as late penalties.
