NS5347 - Quality Use of Medicines in Practice

Subject Description

    This subject builds upon students' existing knowledge of pharmacology and explores principles relevant to the quality use of medicines in practice. Students will explore concepts and apply systems for reducing medication mishaps and administer and supply medications in vulnerable populations safely. Students will apply concepts of drug interactions to complex medication related scenarios and identify adverse drug reactions as well as evaluating response to medical therapy. Students will also explore legislative, regulatory and professional frameworks that inform the administration and supply of medications in their own practice setting. Finally, students will apply different sources of medication information and treatment guidelines to inform their own safe use of medicines and provide patient education.
