NM2002 - Visual Arts: Image and Imagination

Subject Description

In this subject, the principles and elements of design and colour theories will be examined. An introduction to drawing, collage and painting with be presented and you will be able to test ideas in the production of original works of art. A brief history of imaging making will be described along with the self-transformative nature of the creative arts. The subject involves an investigation of how artists exercise creative imagination to make culturally significant or insightful works which make a contribution to human understanding.

Learning Outcomes

• evaluate and illustrate the characteristics of six periods throughout the history of visual art
• demonstrate colour relationships, the principles and elements of design, and technical skill in drawing, collage and painting
• create original works of art drawing on technical skills and imagination and explain the aim of the work
• identify and apply OH&S measures in relation to visual arts processes

• Written > Journal - (30%) - Individual
• Performance/Practice/Product > Creative work - (40%) - Individual
