MO1028 - Child Health Conditions

Prerequisites:Participants are responsible for ensuring they are practicing in accordance with the regulatory instruments of their specific allied health profession, within their own personal scope of practice and experience level and in accordance with the policies of their employer. This module requires access to an experienced paediatric therapist who can act as a mentor and supervise assessment tasks. Supervision can take place in person or via video link.

Subject Description

    This module builds rural generalist skills by providing the opportunity to gain extended knowledge of two child health conditions relevant to participant's professional background and rural and/or remote context. Prevalence of conditions, support services and family-centred service will be explored in conjunction with building assessment and intervention skills. Maximising the efforts of the multi-disciplinary team and overcoming challenges faced in rural and remote practice underpin this module.

Learning Outcomes

  • combine advanced knowledge of childhood conditions and assessment and clinical reasoning skills, to formulate and communicate consumer education resources and multi-disciplinary, family-centred intervention plans designed to optimise care in the rural and/or remote setting in accordance with best practice guidelines and local service strategic intent
