MO1006 - Quality Improvement

Credit points:00.5
Year:2023
Student Contribution Band:Band 2
Administered by:College of Healthcare Sciences

Subject Description

This module explores Quality Improvement (QI) through the lens of The Improvement Process. Participants will explore how QI relates to other improvement approaches, the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to contribute towards QI and the six dimensions of healthcare quality, taking a close look at equity in particular. Common QI methods including the Model for Improvement and the Plan Do Study Act cycle are also considered. Participants are guided through investigating quality improvement and accreditation systems and processes within their own organisations, before choosing and contributing towards a QI initiative that is relevant to their work unit. The chosen initiative, and specific contribution, are examined in the context of the Improvement Process, which will develop participants' understanding of each phase of the process.
