Subject Description

    The subject will demonstrate how to research Australian local history, using North Queensland topics as examples. Students will learn skills in oral history, document and photograph interpretation, using archives and research libraries, and using material historical remains.

Learning Outcomes

  • develop and apply skills in finding and collating the widest possible range of historical evidence in the widest possible range of locations
  • develop and apply skills necessary to produce a research work in history, including analysis of sources, generation of a hypothesis, planning, and composition
  • develop and apply skills in oral history and critique its application in historical research
  • select appropriate means of presenting research outcomes from the diverse ways in which History can be presented

  • Oral > Presentation 1 - (25%) - Individual
  • written-abstract 10% written-list sources,links,images 15% written-text for website 25% - (50%) - Individual
