Subject Description

    Teaching for Learning 4 is a capstone subject in the Bachelor of Education degree. Students enrolled in this subject have experienced professional experience in diverse contexts and completed three prior teaching for learning subjects. This subject focusses on bottom-up teacher strategies to reflectively connect prior theoretical and practical learning and enhance pre-service teachers' confidence in their readiness to teach. Students who complete this subject will be able to demonstrate high level practical knowledge and skills in managing classrooms, differentiating curriculum and assessment, and communicating with diverse students from birth to 18 years and their parents/carers.

Learning Outcomes

  • demonstrate confidence and skills in planning for and assessing diverse students
  • demonstrate confidence and skills in oral and written communication to students and their parents
  • synthesize and apply sound knowledge of classroom and behaviour management skills, including identification of appropriate skills to respond to students displaying challenging behaviour
  • articulate understanding of strategies that support inclusive student participation and engagement in classroom activities
  • synthesize and apply understanding of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers at an Assured level and, for B.Ed (ECE), relevant ACECQA standards
