Subject Description

    Client Relationships introduces students to the knowledge required to build ethical and professional client relationships. This subject will also embody the theoretical and practical underpinnings of ethical and professional requirements in the financial services sector. Students will develop skills in building trust; communication of advice; and strategies for engaging clients and understanding behavioural biases in the financial advising process. The consideration of clients' needs in order to formulate strategies and solutions to meet their financial circumstances is a feature of this subject.

Learning Outcomes

  • apply client engagement psychology for effective client communication in financial services contexts
  • analyse complex situations that may lead to conflicts of interest in client-financial adviser relationships and discuss the systemic consequences of ethical decision making and propose appropriate action
  • apply critical self-reflection skills that describe your accountability and responsibility for ethical professional practices in the financial services context
  • evaluate individual and inter-personal behavioural patterns, applying these to the financial advising process to support positive client outcomes
