BU3103 - Independent Project

Students must have completed 36 BU/BX credit points, completed compulsory WIL preparation in full and be enrolled in their final year of study. Students must follow the application process. Permission to enrol in this subject will only be granted if application is approved by the WIL Coordinator.

Subject Description

This subject is one of three capstones offered through the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Program for Business. The subject is designed for students already in paid employment where they complete a project for their workplace which is relevant to their degree. The Independent Project subject provides students with the opportunity to consolidate and transfer theoretical knowledge into practical implementation through the completion of a work-based project which is relevant to their workplace and has clear project outcomes. The project should be of a student's own design but developed in consultation with workplace supervisors and should assist in developing/improving workplace skills and contribute to industry improvement. It must be authentic, must involve work not already done in the existing paid role and must be completed outside your working hours. Students cannot self-enrol, but must apply and be granted permission to enrol in the subject. Application deadlines are communicated to eligible students via their JCU email prior to the start of each study period.
