Subject Description

    This subject will review the rise of the experience economy and identify the core dimensions and concepts of visitor/guest experience design and management. It will introduce students to key experience design and management frameworks and principles for application to a range of experiences offered in Tourism, Hospitality and Events. Students will practice using these principles to design effective and sustainable experiences. There will also be a focus on building a repertoire of skills to use data to inform and evaluate change in experience design and management.

Learning Outcomes

  • design sustainable and effective tourism, hospitality and events experience based on core concepts and existing frameworks
  • analyse research evaluating experience design across a range of industry sectors
  • critically review existing experiences in tourism, hospitality and events and identify strategies and recommendations for experience enhancement and management

Subject Assessment

  • Oral > Presentation 1 - (20%) - Individual
  • Written > Project plan - (50%) - Individual
  • Written > Research report - (30%) - Individual
