Subject Description

    This subject will focus on clinical exercise physiology research and practice. This subject comprises a combination of online learning, compulsory on-campus (professional practice experience) activities, and independent research. In this subject students will attain advanced knowledge and skills in clinical exercise physiology practice, and will apply principles of research design and ethics to plan and execute a major piece of research to answer complex theoretical or professional practice questions in clinical exercise physiology or allied health.

Learning Outcomes

  • demonstrate advanced knowledge in principles of research design, including the use of appropriate research methodologies to address complex theoretical or professional practice issues in clinical exercise physiology or allied health
  • critically review, analyse, and synthesise current theories and/or practices found in clinical exercise physiology or allied health literature, and formulate recommendations to inform future practice
  • expertly communicate research findings via well- developed written and oral presentation skills
  • demonstrate professional practice competency in clinical exercise physiology settings

Special Assessment Requirements

Passing requirements: complete and submit all assessment items; achieve a cumulative score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties such as late penalties; pass every assessment item; participate in 100% of scheduled professional practice experience.
