Subject Description

This subject supports students in developing knowledge and skills in the conceptualisation, design, and planning of a research project. Students will work independently to consolidate their skills as critical consumers of research literature through searching and appraising relevant literature regarding a contemporary speech pathology issue. Students will then use the findings as a foundation on which to design and develop a research proposal that will provide a foundation for future subjects that form part of the Research Honours major in the Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours).

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify and refine a research topic relevant to contemporary speech pathology practice in Australia
  • Identify and critically evaluate literature relating to a contemporary practice issue in order to demonstrate research merit and justify specific research questions

  • Plan and justify personal and professional development in relation to the ongoing development of an independent research project
