Subject Description

This subject will enable each candidate in a Master of Philosophy research degree at JCU to acquire the transferable skills required to complete the course in a timely manner and contribute to his or her career aspirations as an internationally-competitive research professional. The Advisory Panel will assist the candidate to choose Professional Development activity/ies tailored to his or her individual needs by undertaking a Skills Audit and Plan early in candidature. Skills development is aligned with JCU's Graduate Attributes for Higher Degree by Research graduates.

Transferable skills required to fulfil individual career aspirations as an internationally-competitive research professional

Subject Assessment

Completion of all Fixed Components in the Professional Development Program, and a minimum of 40 hours in the Flexible Component. Alternatively, candidates may fulfil the Flexible component by accumulating 10 points in the Leadership and Initiative category. Candidates must also complete a Career Statement of between one and two pages, which will be a brief reflection on the Professional Development activities undertaken during candidature
