Subject Description

Students will be required to apply knowledge and skills to the assessment of selected neurological disorders. Treatment planning and evaluation will be investigated, with reference to current literature and prevailing scientific theory relevant to neurological physiotherapy.

  • examine and relate key anatomical, pathophysiological, cognitive, psychological and biomechanical aspects of selected neurological conditions
  • apply effective communication skills required to produce a successful clinical interaction and an appreciation of how cognitive and sensory problems can affect patient- physiotherapist interaction
  • apply sound clinical reasoning skills required to guide the assessment and treatment planning process for an individual with physical dysfunction due to neurological conditions
