Subject Description
- The subject will present an overview of the history of the physiotherapy profession along with issues relating to evidence-based practice. Research and literature search skills will be developed. Students will gain foundation knowledge and skills in the application of selected physiotherapy assessment and treatment techniques. These include massage, exercise prescription and joint examination.

- ability to evaluate the evidence regarding physiotherapy assessment and treatment techniques
- explain the physiological rationale for the application of selected physiotherapy treatment techniques
- demonstrate the ability to analyse various movement patterns on the basis of anatomical knowledge, musculoskeletal analysis and related biomechanical principles

Special Assessment Requirements
Passing requirements: complete and submit all assessment items; achieve a cumulative score of at least 50% inclusive of any penalties applied; achieve at least 50% for the practical and written exams; attend at least 80% of scheduled practical classes; attend all scheduled placements; achieve satisfactory/pass for portfolio tasks.
