Subject Description

    This subject brings together the key concepts of woman centred midwifery care, primary health care and collaborative care to demonstrate application of the NMBA (2018) Midwife standards for practice across the woman's reproductive and sexual health continuum. The content is designed to promote development of the student's professional identity and philosophy for transition to practice as a graduate midwife.

Learning Outcomes

  • integrate knowledge from professional studies in preparation for the professional role
  • critically evaluate own preparedness for practice against the National Registration Standards for the Midwife
  • articulate and address individual learning needs to facilitate the transition to professional practice
  • demonstrate the accumulation and application of knowledge, skills and experiences necessary to meet the NMBA registration requirements for the midwife

Special Assessment Requirements

Passing requirements: complete and submit all assessment items; participate in all scheduled workshop classes; achieve a cumulative score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties such as late penalties; achieve a satisfactory grade for the portfolio assessment task and PEP. Examinations may be scheduled outside regular university examination period.
