Prerequisites:Participants are responsible for ensuring they are practicing in accordance with the regulatory instruments of their specific allied health profession, within their own personal scope of practice and experience level and in accordance with the policies of their employer. This module requires access to a patient or consumer with a chronic respiratory and/or cardiovascular condition, so as to demonstrate achievement of module outcomes in the appropriate clinical context.

This module has been developed specifically for allied health professionals in the following professions; Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy and Physiotherapy.

Subject Description

    This module builds rural generalist knowledge and skills in service provision for consumers experiencing chronic cardiovascular and/or respiratory conditions who are living in rural and remote communities. Participants will enhance their knowledge and skills in assessment, clinical reasoning, client management and self-management skills.

Learning Outcomes

  • combine advanced knowledge of the anatomy and pathophysiology of common chronic cardiovascular and/or respiratory conditions and assessment and clinical reasoning skills, to formulate and communicate multi-disciplinary self-management plans designed to optimise care in the rural and/or remote setting in accordance with best practice guidelines and local service strategic intent
