Subject Description

    This subject extends core knowledge of health, sport, physical activity and wellbeing to gain a comprehensive understanding of content and pedagogical knowledge in health and physical education. The interaction between curriculum, assessment practices and advanced pedagogies for teaching health and physical education will be a specific focus. The aim of this subject is to equip students with knowledge, skills and confidence to integrate content, issues and activities in health, physical education in line with programs and student wellbeing policies and practice.

Learning Outcomes

  • apply health, sport and physical activity and student wellbeing knowledge and concepts to identify underpinning principles in health and physical education in primary or secondary schools
  • use advanced pedagogies to teach health, sport and physical education
  • create assessment tasks and demonstrate the capacity to evaluate students learning in health or physical education
  • critically reflect on and develop appropriate strategies to support student wellbeing in schools

  • Written > Learning plan - (60%) - Individual
