Subject Description

    This subject prepares students for tertiary study through the development of core academic skills in the areas of language, literacy and numeracy, and digital literacies. Students will engage in four weeks of intensive multidisciplinary study and experiential learning activities, designed to develop the academic knowledge and study habits required for success in a range of academic contexts.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain core ideas in academic arguments such as claims, purpose, and bias
  • Construct a basic academic text
  • Use foundational mathematical procedures to solve common numeric problems
  • Navigate online learning environments and use technologies for university study

Subject Assessment

  • Written > Test/Quiz 1 - (40%) - Individual
  • Written > Essay (including multi-draft) 1 - (30%) - Individual
  • Written > Workbook - (30%) - Individual
