Subject Description

In this subject, students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners by the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA). Students will integrate key practices required to maintain high professional standards relating to ethical practice, considerations for diversity, project design and management and life-long learning. Students will also address effective management of career counselling practice across multiple contexts, including education, employment and community organisations. The Professional Practice workshop provides the opportunity for students to apply their knowledge of professional association standards to both 'real play' and notional scenarios. The workshop will assist Practitioners to deepen there understanding of all elements of professional practice, consider the application of these standards to a broad range of client types and needs, and to build an applied understanding of tools and techniques available to the contemporary Career Practitioner.
