Subject Description

    This subject is the third of four subjects (the others being CH4004, CH4005, and CH4007) that in combination constitute the part-time subjects required to complete Honours part-time in the Discipline of Chemistry. The subject is a combination of a major research project and a selection of readings/seminars designed to complement the subject matter of the research project.

Learning Outcomes

  • to allow students to extend their understanding of chemistry by undertaking advanced level short courses in chemistry
  • to allow students to develop practical skills in Chemistry by undertaking a major research project in a chemistry research laboratory

Subject Assessment

As this subject is part of a subject chain, a final standard grade (e.g. P, C) will only be recorded for each subject after successful completion of all parts of the subject chain.

  • 10% for each of three completed subjects selected with supervisor's approval - (30%) - Individual
  • 45%: Thesis. 20%: Supervisor marks on productivity and intellectual ownership. 5%: Oral Presentation - (70%) - Individual
