Subject Description

    This subject builds on the principles introduced in BM1061 Anatomy and Physiology for Sport & Exercise Science 1. This subject will comprise a detailed study of the gross anatomy of the lower limb. Physiological processes and anatomical structure will be studied for the cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, reproductive systems and endocrinology as relevant to sport and exercise science. The emphasis will be on gaining an integrated understanding of the human body through practical sessions, including the study of human cadaveric material, and functional and clinical case-studies to facilitate the integration of material and the correlation to practice.

Learning Outcomes

  • To identify and describe the structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) of the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urinary, reproductive and endocrine systems
  • To identify and describe the structure of the lower limb
  • To critically apply anatomical and physiological knowledge to a human bioscience discipline

Subject Assessment

  • Written > Examination (centrally administered) - (50%) - Individual
  • Written > Test/Quiz 1 - (30%) - Individual
  • Oral > Presentation 1 - (20%) - Group

Special Assessment Requirements

Achieve an overall percentage of 50% or more (an aggregate of the on-course assessment tasks and the final examinations). Attend and sign in to at least 80% of the practical's/workshops. Submit and demonstrate a reasonable attempt on ALL assessment tasks
