Subject Description

    A tutorial/practical based subject dealing with concepts and specific topics in parasitology. The pathogenesis of parasitic disease in animals, techniques for parasite isolation/recovery and identification and diagnosis of parasitic disease will be introduced/presented A tutorial/practical based subject dealing with concepts and topics in parasitology, focusing on pathogenesis of parasitic disease in animals, techniques for parasite isolation/recovery and identification and diagnosis of parasitic disease.

Learning Outcomes

  • develop and demonstrate skills in morphologic identification of parasites
  • describe the means by which parasitic infections lead to parasitic disease and the pathogenic mechanisms involved
  • describe the mechanisms by which the hosts attempt to control the growth, development and multiplication of parasites and how parasites evade these processes
  • describe and evaluate current diagnostic techniques in veterinary parasitology

Subject Assessment
