SP2200 - Exercise and Sports Testing

Subject Description

    This subject will provide the physiological basis, practical skills and scientific knowledge necessary to evaluate metabolic responses, sport, physical fitness and health outcomes in laboratory and field settings when undertaking exercise and sports testing.

Learning Outcomes

  • explain and apply the principles for physiological testing procedures that are relevant for sport, fitness and health for all populations
  • construct and administer physiological testing sessions in a laboratory and/or field setting
  • interpret scientific results of exercise and sports testing assessments

Subject Assessment

  • Written > Examination - In class - (25%) - Individual
  • Participation > Class participation - Individual
  • Written - Examination-in class - ECG tracing analysis - (15%) - Individual
  • Performance/Practice/Product > Practical assessment/practical skills demonstration - (60%) - Individual

Special Assessment Requirements

Passing requirements: complete and submit all assessment items; achieve a cumulative score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties such as late penalties; pass all skill competencies within the practical exams; participate in at least 90% of scheduled practical classes.
