RM7002 - Situating the Research: Masters Candidates

Subject Description

    This subject will demonstrate the research higher degree candidate's capacity to undertake a degree at the required level by demonstrating: (1) mastery of a substantial body of knowledge in the field of research including substantial knowledge of the principles and methods, (2) the cognitive skills to demonstrate expert understanding of the associated theoretical knowledge, and to reflect critically on the theory and practice of the field of research, and (3) the communication skills to explain and critique theoretical propositions, methodologies and conclusions and present cogently a complex investigation to peers and the wider academic community. The Advisory Panel will assist the candidate to complete to substantive written work the satisfaction of their Candidature Committee.

  • skills to situate the research in the required scholarly background and communicate the findings at the appropriate level in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework

Subject Assessment

  • Substantive written work in the format prescribed for the School or Discipline. The strategies employed to ensure that the HDR candidate is the author of the work submitted for assessment will be the Advisory Panels involvement with the drafts
