Subject Description

    In this subject students will learn about biopsychosocial and cultural models applied to specific health disorders. Students will have the opportunity to develop skills in biopsychosocial formulation and development of evidence-based treatment plans. Complex cases will be used to integrate knowledge and skills regarding physical and mental health. Students will have the opportunity to disseminate information about the relevance of psychology in managing physical health conditions to their peers and others.

Learning Outcomes

  • apply and justify advanced psychological knowledge in the biopsychosocial assessment and development of treatment plans for health conditions
  • expertly communicate to relevant stakeholders, about the biopsychosocial and cultural impacts of health conditions
  • demonstrate knowledge of cultural considerations across health presentations
  • evaluate, synthesize, and apply biopsychosocial and cultural models of health in the context of prevention and treatment of health disorders
