Subject Description

    This subject will provide knowledge, skills and experience in neuropsychological assessment and management for clinical psychology practice. The fundamentals of neuroanatomy, neuropathology and neurological investigations will be reviewed. General issues of neuropsychological assessment will be introduced. These will then be applied to common adult clinical disorders and rehabilitation management.

Learning Outcomes

  • identify the gross and functional neuroanatomy of the human brain
  • differentiate common neurological, psychiatric and behavioural disorders
  • describe common neuropsychological syndromes
  • demonstrate the ability to plan a neuropsychological assessment
  • integrate neuropsychological data into a useful, problem-oriented report
  • demonstrate skills in positive neuropsychological assessment, and strengths-focussed treatment planning
