Subject Description

    Psychological assessment is one of the most important activities performed by psychologists in both professional practice and research. This subject covers three main areas: (1) knowledge of psychometric principles including norms, reliability, validity and test construction; (2) understanding of basic assessment strategies used in psychological practice and (3) skills in the use and interpretation of commonly used standardised psychological test instruments.

Learning Outcomes

  • appraise the major psychometric principles of norms, reliability, validity and test construction
  • demonstrate competent skills in the administration of commonly used psychological tests with consideration of social and cultural context
  • analyse and integrate assessment data into a psychological report

Subject Assessment

  • Written > Examination - In class - (30%) - Individual
  • Written > Case report 1 - (35%) - Individual
  • Performance/Practice/Product > Clinical assessment 1 - (35%) - Individual
