Subject Description

    PP5055: An independent course of study in which students will demonstrate an advanced, integrated and specialised knowledge, including recent research developments, in 3 distinct topics in pharmacology. Students will investigate, review, critically analyse and consolidate scientific literature and synthesise literature reviews on assigned topics. The topics areas for this subject will be developed in consultation with the course coordinator. Students will be required to demonstrate autonomy, initiative, planning and decision making skills in the preparation of literature reviews. This subject is consistent with AQF level 9.

Learning Outcomes

  • autonomously investigate, review, critically analyse scientific literature, focusing on peer reviewed primary journal articles
  • work independently to formulate a detailed plan illustrating how the ideas and themes of assigned topics will be consolidated into literature reviews
  • construct scientific literature reviews that demonstrates a sustained and coherent argument on selected, specific topics in pharmacology
  • construct scientific literature reviews that demonstrate an advanced conceptualisation of all the selected topics

Special Assessment Requirements

In order to pass this subject, the following requirements must be met: (i) an overall average of at least 50%; and (ii) a satisfactory level (40%) in each assessment component
