Subject Description

    With the aid of their supervisory team, the student will demonstrate an ability to further develop their research skills from level 4 of the BPharm(Hons)/MPharm pathway. The student will develop a project of a suitable scope and standard for the degree and demonstrate that they have the capacity to complete the project in a timely manner with the resources available. The Advisory Panel will assist the candidate to complete the following tasks to the satisfaction of their Candidature Committee: research proposal on approved generic pro-forma, public proposal seminar and any required ethical permits, data analysis and the production of a suitable thesis or manuscript. The student will also demonstrate a mastery of a substantial body of knowledge in the field of research including the use of appropriate research principles and methods,and the ability to reflect critically on their findings. Finally, the student will also demonstrate suitable the communication skills in the dissemination of their findings.

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate the skills to appropriately situate the research within the required scholarly background and communicate their findings at the appropriate level in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework
  • Demonstrate the skills to design, implement, complete and then communicate their research at the appropriate level in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework.

  • Thesis or manuscript - (50%)
  • Presentations - (20%)

Assumed Knowledge:  As this is a core level 5 subject in the BPharm(Hons)/MPharm pathway, students will be expected to have fully completed the BPharm (Hons) program or equivalent.
