Subject Description

    This subject is the second of two subjects (the other being PC4501) that in combination constitute the full-year Honours subject in the Discipline of Pharmacy. The subject consists of research undertaken for preparation of a thesis and seminars which accompany the research process. Students will be able to choose a research project from the pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice offered in the Discipline. All projects are subject to approval by the honours coordinator of the Pharmacy Discipline.

Learning Outcomes

  • To enable students to analyse data, apply and use appropriate methods and critically evaluate results
  • To develop the skills required to carry out a literature search and to critically evaluate the literature
  • To develop the skills necessary to formulate a research question and project plan

Subject Assessment

As this subject is part of a subject chain, a final standard grade (e.g. P, C) will only be recorded for each subject after successful completion of all parts of the subject chain.

  • Oral > Presentation 1 - (40%)
  • Written > Thesis/dissertation - (60%)
