OT3012 - Professional Practice Preparation

This subject is only available to students enrolled in occupational therapy.

Subject Description

The purpose of this subject is for students to develop professional skills and competencies in preparation for occupational therapy practice education.

Learning Outcomes

• evaluate and synthesise key information from clinical case scenarios in order to construct clear, concise, professional reports in both written and oral formats
• examine and apply professional skills, such as teamwork, negotiation and conflict resolution, to an occupational therapy practice context
• critically reflect on professional and personal behaviours in order to respond effectively to complex practice situations
• develop and substantiate occupational therapy priorities by deconstructing clinical case scenarios through the application of professional reasoning

Subject Assessment

• Participation > Class participation - Individual
• Progress note - formative assessment task - Individual
• Written > Client report 1 - (40%) - Individual
• Oral > Viva - (30%) - Individual
• Performance/Practice/Product > Role play - (30%) - Group

Special Assessment Requirements

Passing requirements: complete and submit all assessment items; achieve a cumulative score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties such as late penalties; achieve at least 50% for viva (oral exam); participate in at least 80% of scheduled workshops and at least 80% of practice placement lectures.
