NM1810 - Introduction to Creativity and Innovation

SP 1 External availability for 2019 is a teach-out offering available to students enrolled in the disestablished BCAM degree only. SP 2 Internal availabilities are offered for students enrolled in the new major of the BA.

Subject Description

The subject introduces the concepts of creativity and innovation and explores the role that they play in organisations and firms, economies and societies, art institutions and processes. Key themes discussed include the role of creators, creative thinking, creative technology, individual and institutional creative process, creative collaborations, ideas-development, and models of business and social innovation. The role that art, media, computer-mediated arts, image, and design play in social, business and institutional creativity is also introduced.

• investigate key issues discussed in the creativity and innovation literature
• explain basic creativity and innovation claims

Subject Assessment

• Oral > Presentation 1 - (20%) - Individual
• Written > Project plan - (40%) - Individual
• Performance/Practice/Product > Prototype - (40%) - Individual
