This module has been developed specifically for allied health professionals in the following professions: Medical Imaging.

Subject Description

    This module supports participants knowledge and skill development in Focussed Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (FAST). Participants will access theory and foundation resources in ultrasound imaging for the context of patient presentation following trauma. Participants will apply the principles of FAST scanning in their clinical context with a practical demonstration of their knowledge using a consenting volunteer subject. This module requires access to a qualified sonographer/s who can provide the participant with both observation and supervised practice opportunities. Supervision can take place in person or via video link.

Learning Outcomes

  • to perform non-time critical FAST scans to improve the health outcomes of consumers in rural and/or remote contexts, drawing on knowledge of sonographic anatomy, appearances, scanning techniques and process
